There are...I think that ZZZ could be a real person! There are many college students that could have this name. They do not want to take credit for the assignments that they have missed or have not finished. In reality this happen, but do not lie about it. That is possibly the worst thing that you could do. I would not consider my ZZZ, but that does not mean that I can slack on my work.Ashley Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02367738882414061123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670045040558819579.post-4162832393716415882010-06-22T11:36:59.991-05:002010-06-22T11:36:59.991-05:00Giving yourself an accurate self evaluation is not...Giving yourself an accurate self evaluation is not always the easiest thing. You might see things completely different than the way that someone else sees you. However, in the case of the sleeping students (ZZZ) they were obviously not interested in giving an accurate self evaluation and only answering the questions in a way that they thought the professor wanted them answered. By doing this ZZZ is only hurting himself.Martha Yimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15201825001776763949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670045040558819579.post-76540525993014511972010-06-22T10:44:05.613-05:002010-06-22T10:44:05.613-05:00I think that ZZZ is positively real, but he/she sy...I think that ZZZ is positively real, but he/she symbolizes a large majority of college students. I, honestly, do not categorize myself as a ZZZ student, but that does not mean I do not have plenty of room for improvement(especially in that whole time management category). I failed to answer the questions about would I like ZZZ to be a colleague or the teacher of my children or grandchildren. Well just so I can be added to those not surprising statistics, the answer is no. No I do not care to have a lazy, sleeping, or lying colleague and I certainly do not want ZZZ to teach my child. It sounds like my kid could teach him/her a thing or two about hard work, computers, and honesty.Alana Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10534696673283954812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670045040558819579.post-51252854931880842102010-05-06T23:23:19.680-05:002010-05-06T23:23:19.680-05:00I appreciate all the hard work from all of the fac...I appreciate all the hard work from all of the faculty that help on this particular course. I'm not going to say I loved everything about this class because if it is one thing you taught me, it is to be honest, but I enjoyed a lot of the projects that were given, and I know I will use them when I become a teacher. I have learned how to use my time wisely and take responsibility, and trust me it was hard! It has been an extreme challenge but the knowledge I have acquired this semester is priceless. Yes I fell behind and had to catch up, complained about the work load, mismanaged my time but, the confidence I have developed in technology is unmeasurable. This class has helped me think outside of the box as both a parent and teacher. It wasn't easy but you know what they say "anything worth having is worth working for". This is one of the classes that I will be proud to say I accomplished. Thank you for the last paragraph. Teaching is something that I take serious and can't wait to work in the field.bettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16235696946380346201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670045040558819579.post-76473726539248744652010-04-28T19:13:02.938-05:002010-04-28T19:13:02.938-05:00Dr. Strange,

At the beginning of this class, I too had a negative attitude. I have always used technology, and I didn't see the importance of a technology class for a teacher. Oh, how I was completely wrong. I have grown to love this class, and I am so excited about incorporating everything I have learned into my classroom. As an English teacher, I am going to use Blogger, Google Docs, and Google Earth for sure. I would also like to make videos of students performing Shakespeare and other interesting things. I think the biggest problem for the majority of people is the attitude we have towards school, which is quite ironic considering we are going to be teachers. Hmmmmm... Maybe some of us should rethink our major. :/ Once I made an attitude adjustment, I began getting so much out of this class. Connecting with students and teachers has completely changed my perspective on teaching. I want to teach overseas, and I have learned so much just from viewing Shelly Terrell and Dorothy Burt's blogs. Seeing the work and improvement from little kids really encourages me as a future teacher. There is so much I could say about this class and the things I have learned. I will end saying once again, I am forever grateful for the encouragement and faith Dr. Strange had in me. I am a changed person, and I love it!!!Jamie Lynn Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13566681587302179124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670045040558819579.post-1154203885240674842010-04-28T19:11:37.802-05:002010-04-28T19:11:37.802-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Jamie Lynn Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13566681587302179124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670045040558819579.post-4368080177016332002010-04-28T07:54:46.404-05:002010-04-28T07:54:46.404-05:00Thank you Dr. Strange! One other piece of advice I would like to pass along to our students, and you have already said this, we are ALL learners and WILL CONTINUE to learn over our life times. I have been amazed at the number of students resistant to change. This course is new... hybrid. I too have heard statements that if "they" would have known what this class was like, they would not have taken it. I have trouble following their way of thinking. In the "real" world, there will be no one there to hold their hands and say point here, click here or there. I believe we have given our students the tools and means to look up answers for themselves, to maneuver around this ever growing world of technology and to be able to "teach" themselves and stay on top of the new technologies that will become available to them as educators. They now have the tools available to keep apprised of new technologies and know where to go now to learn how to use these technologies.

To the students who took up the challenge set before them this semester.... great job! To those who spent more time complaining about the work load than actually doing the work (for example: 10 minutes of complaining you could have accomplished your voice thread assignment or your comment 4 kids assignment or your comment 4 teachers assignment... you get the point. It's all about time management and priorities. Someday you will look back on these experiences and thank Dr. Strange and the other instructors for teaching you about the various new technologies and how to keep appraised of this ever changing world of technology. It has been a fun semester and I wish each and everyone of you good luck in your future endeavors.Jennifer Averitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07379069004577761158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7670045040558819579.post-50955185839637920322010-04-27T22:36:32.567-05:002010-04-27T22:36:32.567-05:00I really did not know if there was a ZZZ but I did...I really did not know if there was a ZZZ but I did refer to myself as being behind. And for that reason I was just a slow self learner and I still am. But I am trying to do what I need to do to learn what I can from this class. It was not my favorite but I can say that I have learned something that I can use in my classroom in the future. It was hard trying to adjust to learn it on your own with the tutorials, podcast, and videocast, I just process information a lot slower than most. But from the determination of not giving up and wanting to do my best, I am satisfied with myself. Because when I first began this course, I did not even own a laptop or even know how to use it. but now I'm on the other side of not being tech illiterate. I have blog page, a Google account, YouTube account, something I had know idea of what these were in the past. And for that I say "Thank You".Taylor Williams edmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13606644501222687824noreply@blogger.com
